Simon Frost wins with tv show ‘The Johnsons’ at the 2011 US International Film & Video Festival
Sydney-based tv director Simon Frost has won an award for Creative Excellency at the 2011 US International Film and Video Festival with his tv show ‘The Johnsons’. It was also the winner of its category, ‘Dramatic Comedy’.
The Film Festival was judged in LA and has been in continuous operation since 1967. This year there were over 1000 entries from 22 countries so it is a great achievement to get a top award in such a competitive competition and such a competitive category.
Frost wrote a TV series pilot with Sarah Smith from Southern Star Entertainment and as a director/producer team Simon Frost and Sarah Leach produced the production last year.
The Johnson’s is a character driven half hour black comedy drama series about four brothers doing it tough, wheeling and dealing their way through life in the outer Western suburbs of Sydney.
The series is currently being looked at in Australia, the US as well as in the UK, and the writers hope to see it developed soon.
