Silverchain is supporting older Australians to navigate the once-in-a-generation aged care reforms with clarity, trusted expertise and a touch of humour in its new eight-part video series titled ‘What’s that about?‘ developed with Adelaide and Melbourne based agency, Simple.

As Australia prepares for the rollout of the Federal Government’s Support at Home program on 1 November 2025, Silverchain – Australia’s third largest Home Care Package provider – is engaging with older people through a series of short videos that transforms complex information into relatable, reassuring conversations.

In the series Silverchain offers information and reassurance to older Australians and their carers and families through an ‘edutainment’ approach.

The star of the series is Lesley Balkwill, Silverchain’s General Manager of Care Service Delivery in Western Australia. Known for her quick wit and down-to-earth charm, Balkwill answers the questions everyone’s asking about Support at Home – from what’s changing, and how it works, to what it really means for people’s wallets.

Silverchain’s Executive Director of Strategic Communications, Bronwyn Perry, said after 17 years at Silverchain, Balkwill doesn’t just understand in-home aged care – she lives and breathes it: “Support at Home is one of the most significant care reforms in a generation, and our goal is to help people feel informed and supported throughout this transition.”

Support at Home is set to take begin on 1 November 2025 and will introduce new service categories to help older Australians live independently at home for longer.

Through short, engaging videos, Balkwill breaks down Support at Home into plain English using real-life examples such as her neighbour Terry, who, like more than 300,000 other Australians, will transition to Support at Home.

Perry said each episode combines heart and humour to explain how the changes will affect older Australians, their loved ones and family as they navigate Support at Home: “By sharing engaging and accessible content about the new Support at Home Program, Lesley’s relatable style is helping older Australians, their families and carers to make informed decisions about their care and to exercise their right to choose where they want their care to be received: at home.”
