Sandpiper appoints Liz Egginton to lead technology practice

The Sandpiper Group (Sandpiper), one of the largest independent communications, public affairs, and research groups headquartered in Asia Pacific has appointed Liz Egginton as director, technology practice.

Based in Australia, Egginton will lead the development and long-term growth of the firm’s Technology practice across Asia Pacific, integrating Sandpiper’s world-class offerings, including content strategy, research and insights, government affairs, reputation management, and international media, to drive intentional and strategic communications outcomes for clients.

With over 25 years’ experience, Egginton joins from IBM where she was a senior communications advisor, responsible for delivering high-impact integrated communications campaigns, tightly aligned with business priorities, to build brand trust and drive revenue growth across Asia Pacific. Her areas of expertise include enterprise technology, crisis management, executive coaching, and corporate communications.

Previously, Egginton was a ministerial media advisor assigned to Australia’s foreign affairs and trade portfolio, and also spent several years as a journalist covering business and general news.

Her appointment extends Sandpiper’s commitment to providing technology and tech-forward clients with advisory and data-driven insights to inform communications strategies that drive growth, enhance brand, and protect corporate reputation.

Says Emma Smith, chief executive officer, Sandpiper: “I’m delighted to welcome Liz to Sandpiper to lead our rapidly growing technology practice. Liz’s extensive experience will be tremendously useful as we continue to expand our suite of services for tech clients and anticipate their evolving needs.”

Says Egginton: “Technology companies are distinguished by a culture of speed, curiosity and their own continuous transformation. These companies are operating in an environment of economic uncertainty, heightened societal expectation concerning ethical AI, and the simultaneous digitisation of nations fast-tracked by the global pandemic. This is the unique context through which technology communicators must help their stakeholders navigate.

“The need for data-driven insights, corporate narratives that resonate with internal and external audiences, and open, authentic leadership is paramount for success. That is why I’m thrilled to join Sandpiper’s team of seasoned advisors, to bring our deep industry expertise to support our technology clients in Asia Pacific, with their complex communications needs.”
