Sam I Am signs Lula Cucchiara

International production and photography agency Sam I Am has announced the signing of queer, multidisciplinary Latinx photographer, director and artist Lula Cucchiara.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Cucchiara now calls Sydney home. Their imagery is a bold, spontaneous celebration of diversity, youth and culture. Cucchiara represents a new gen of multi-faceted artists, bringing authentic inclusivity to every project, from casting to location and set design.

Says Samantha Simpson, founder and creative director, Sam I Am: “We welcome Lula as a wonderful addition to the Sam I Am roster. Their works speak directly to what our clients want now – a courageous vision of dynamism and play, with women front and centre. As a collective, SIA artists aim to excite and surprise, so it feels right that Lula finds a home with us.”

With a background in film, art and fashion, Cucchiara’s work has a distinctive and almost counter-cultural vibe. Their aesthetic is raw, real and unapologetic. Ordinary scenes are transformed into rich, deeply layered stories using a masterful use of colour and lighting.

Says Cucchiara: “I’m super excited to join the Sam I Am roster. I’ve only heard awesome things about how they produce work and support their directors and photographers. They’re always pushing boundaries and inspiring everyone on their roster, and for me, that’s so valuable. I can’t wait to be part of this amazing crew and create some really cool projects together.”

Cucchiara’s worked with some of the most famous and infamous brands on the planet including i-D, Vogue, The Face, Mercedes, Paris Georgia, Kathmandu, and Adidas.  And directed projects for Benee, and Ladyhawke. Their first feature documentary Fiona Clark: Unafraid premiered at the New Zealand International Festival in 2021 and was featured at Cannes Docs | Marché du Film in 2020.
