Saatchi’s 2011 AWARD call for entries concept attracts longest creative credit list in history
CB Exclusive – In this cut-throat business of ours it’s all too rare that agencies support each other in their creative endeavors, let alone share creative opportunities. But that’s exactly what Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney set out to do with this year’s AWARD Call For Entries campaign entitled ‘Get Your Name On It’.
“You only have to glance at the comments on the CB blog to realize that the competitiveness between agencies gives rise to a lot of unnecessary negativity. That’s something that needs changing,” says Saatchi’s Guy Rooke, who oversaw the project that was created by Iggy Rodriguez and Justin Carew.
“So when we were asked to do this year’s AWARD Call For Entries it felt right to do something positive for the industry as a whole. It’s time to reset the way we all look at each other.”
But are they right in their desire to create a more positive culture amongst the industry? Well if the results of this year’s campaign are anything to go by – promoting exclusively on the CB Blog back in October – they may be on to something. Four hundred and sixteen people from over eighty-seven countries added their creative input to the three press ads via the website getyournameonit.co.
That’s – probably – the longest creative credit list for a single piece of work in the history of advertising. Even people from countries that aren’t eligible to enter AWARD wanted to get their name it, from Israel to Qatar. Whatever they wanted they got with changes being made daily for the duration of the four-week Call For Entry period.
And as you can see, when some of the top minds from the industry put their heads together the result is unconventional fun!

wow jakey balls you finally got on a credit list – nice work!!!
ps button is going to win this weekend.
Typically some of the names on there i have never ever heard of and some have been guilty in the past.
How post modern.
A campaign based on the insight that advertising is a vacuous, cut-throat, do-anything-for-fame shitfight magically brings us all closer together.
Can somebody please explain to me how this works?
The whole idea hinges on this winning something. Be very funny if it didn’t.
What a load of bollocks!
Saatchi’s really need a new pool table in Sydney, or they did last time I was there.
cool. nice idea.
Roukey its pretty fair to say you’re becoming quite the expert in the creating ads for Award entries.
One of the hardest briefs to crack.
I can only think of a few other ‘call for entries’ globally that have made an impact creatively. All award shows tend to play it safe.
So credit where credits due (excuse the pun). This is one of the better ones i’ve seen in a while. I like the truth in the idea and the interaction that comes with it.
So well done to ‘AWARD’ and S&S.
I only wish they had more participants! And the layouts look too wordy … even before all the added stuff.
All those copywriters and art directors and they still missed an open quote mark – ‘ – where there should have been an apostrophe – ’. Bah.
Coincidentally is spelt wrong you tools.
I miss Ian.
I miss the million dollar belt
Saatchi’s Guy Rooke??? Not on your Nellie
