RSL Queensland spotlights veteran support in newly launched campaign via Rumble Brisbane
RSL Queensland has launched its new veteran services awareness campaign via Rumble Brisbane, to help improve understanding of available services among current and ex-serving Defence personnel.
The ‘Services Helping Veterans’ campaign is a simple but powerful way to engage veterans, by speaking to them directly and honestly, while also showing an understanding of their lived experiences and the challenges they’ve faced or may be currently facing.
Says Michelle Colefax, head of membership and services marketing, RSL Queensland: “The transition from Defence to civilian life can be challenging for veterans and their families. RSL Queensland is here to support veterans throughout their lives, with an extensive range of services providing holistic support.”
Says Jess Stone, marketing manager – veteran services, RSL Queensland: “A key part of the campaign development was consulting regularly with veterans as well as the decision to cast actual returned service people. It was so important to tell a story that was authentic and spoke to the broader Defence community.”
Rumble associate creative director, Rhys Venning said the agency was honoured to again partner with RSL Queensland to help shine a light on the important work the organisation is doing within the Defence community: “It was eye opening to learn about the challenges our veterans can face after Defence but equally encouraging to know just how much RSL Queensland is supporting them. When you think ‘RSL’, many – incorrectly – think just pubs and clubs. This is a perception that we hope this campaign will also help to change.”
‘Services Helping Veterans’ will be live with an 80-second online video to screen in cinema, a 45-second TV ad along with 15-second service-specific social videos, and billboards.

OK
It feels like they could have gone stronger on the guy having trouble adjusting and the disconnect with his family before revealing it’s the tinnitus. It’s played quite subtly, which lessens its emotional impact for me. And something like ‘Proudly Serving Veterans’ would be a stronger line. But it’ll probably speak to ex-service people, which is great.
Lots to be proud of here. Congratulations to all involved.
Love the shot of him in the water – great job guys, keep it up 🙂
It’s got a nice rhythm. Combines the offering with the right amount of emotion.
Awkward
More yawn
Probably didn’t want to go too hard on triggering the intended audience of the spot. Something a lot creatives ignore in the pursuit of a “good” film.
Nice work Nancy, James. Congratulations.
