Rabbit director Abe Forsythe back shooting TVCs after completing second feature film, Down Under
Rabbit director Abe Forsythe is now back working in the commercial world after completing his second feature film, Down Under, which is due for cinema release early 2016.
Forsythe’s body of work includes campaigns for major Australia brands such as St George, MasterCard, KIA, Allianz and Football Federation of Australia. Forsythe (pictured second from left with Justin Rosniak and DoP Lachlan Milne on set) also collaborated with The Monkeys on the highly awarded Oak ‘Reverse Robberies’ campaign.
Down Under will be one of the first Australian films to be distributed by StudioCanal; the company behind major films such as David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, a number of Coen Brothers features as well as host of other major Hollywood movies.
Down Under is a black comedy set 24 hours after the Cronulla Riots of December 2005. The narrative follows the journey of two separate cars – one from Cronulla and another from Lakemba on the night of the infamous revenge attacks. Gritty and darkly humorous, the film explores the emotions that the riots conjured up and the many similarities and differences between the Anglo-Australian and Muslim-Australian cultures.
The film was shot by award winning Director of Photography Lachlan Milne.
The cast features a number of well-known Australian actors such as Damon Herriman, Lincoln Younes, Josh McConville and David Field, as well as a number of first time actors. Forsythe is writer as well as director of Down Under.
