An Aussie blogger just back from a trip to NZ, points out that the current BMW ‘Pinball’ outdoor poster in Auckland, created by Colenso BBDO, is the same concept as an outdoor poster created by FCB Melbourne for Honda two years ago. It was featured in CB’s ‘Seen+Noted’ at the time.

advertising creative process… find something that looks cool and make it the same but different. if ever the title “creative” was a misnomer it’s here.
technique, as apposed to a solid idea, typical Colenso stuff.
Hysterical. FCB whinged about this when someone did this about a year and a half ago. They still think their’s is the original. The idea has been done about a million times since the nineties.
Nissan Chiat Day, 1987, Comm Arts. Don’t ask me why, but I have a copy of it. Futura Extra Bold was very, very big back then.
Damn. I thought it was a new exhaust design….Chad
1983. DDB Sydney did Audi poster with the car iin a slingshot. Same idea!
If its a great ad, no one is allowed to touch it with a 20 ft pole. Yet many crap ads with corny puns get left alone. hmmmmmm.
he’s a pinball wizard …
Funny medium, outdoor. Very challenging and top marks to the Comalco team for giving it a red hot go. Can’t really say we wish that particular execution was in our folio but we’d kill to have the brief on our desk!
Relax 11:00 AM. You’re hysterical.
