Pelikan Artline April Fool’s Day ad a hit or miss?
Pelikan Artline, via agency BCM Sydney, blurred the line between ink and online by launching a ‘breakthrough product’ in newspaper ads which ran nationally today.
According to the April Fool’s Day ad, the Artline Memory Stick® appears much like an ordinary Artline 200 Fineliner pen, however everything you write or draw with it is automatically stored digitally in a 2GB memory stick built in to the end of the pen.
It has endless applications, with notes and drawings saved instantly, downloadable directly to computers through USB ports. The new innovative pen also gives you the ability to download your own handwriting or have it converted to a selected typeface.

We found this ad really time wasting because when I logged on, all I got was a repititon of the ad — I wanted to know
how much is it?
Where do I buy it?
I’d sack the ad agency
Could be funnier. There is a real one that does this – Try officeworks
strange but true
Oh please! It’s an April Fools’ Day ad.
I like it.
sucked in, ha, ha ha
How much is it?????
Where do I buy it?????
Nice April 1 Day ad guys.
I’d sack you for being a ninny, Gabrielle.
Let’s applaud this brief moment of levity sandwiched between the travails of the oh-so-serious young insects who now seem to populate advertising – if this blog is anything to go by.
Love the Ad…
It had me fooled!!
nice little fun ad…get a sense of humour Gabrielle, artline is top of mind today
Oh man… I fell for this. It’s actually a kind of good idea for a product. But I didn’t really laugh when I found out it was an April Fools
That’s too true
Yep, Officeworks does have them. Aldi does too — for around a hundred bucks.
Invent an “outlandish fake product” for April Fools Day that’s actually been around for years? That’s funny.
Clever Really Awesome Pretty
It’s only supposed to be a bit of fun. The BMW one on Nova was pretty funny.
Now that could be a Caxton.
Another nice touch from Artline. Always clever, they’ve become a brand I’d love to work on.
Nothing will ever beat Badge Wipers from BMW.

Beautiful.
Greid is good. Well done sir.
HiiiiiiiiiiiiISS…!
this is how you do an April fools gag. Shame the media and marketers in Australia are so gutless.

this is shit house, who even makes april fools ads anymore – is it 1996? artline is top of mind – as if
It says nothing about the brand that’s positive and the best bit is it’s not even funny.
Better luck next time.
This ad must have severely contravened advertising standards. April Fools’ Day is not for the likes of this.
This was a case of a real company advertising a product which does not exist. The company should be prosecuted and fined millions.
It got me and my art director.
So well done.
You’ve got a big mouth Eugene. On what legal authority do you base your outlandish and uneducated opinion?
Yes… I’m with Eugene… not because I agree, but because he can do with some moral support in that lonely, dark corner he’s stuck in.
