OgilvyOne’s creative director Rob Morrison appointed head tutor at ADMA Creative School
The Australian Direct Marketing Association has appointed OgilvyOne Sydney creative director Rob Morrison as head tutor at ADMA Creative School.
Says Morrison: “I am honoured and delighted to be appointed. My industry colleagues and I have long identified the need to nurture junior creative talent and ensure they develop a true understanding of the role creativity plays in effective marketing and direct response techniques.
“It’s more relevant than ever with the rapid growth of digital response. Teaching will place me at the coalface so I can make this happen.
“My aim is to ensure Creative School remains challenging and rewarding for students. It should be a natural stepping stone for them to develop their talent so they become first choice as candidates for jobs in an agency when they graduate.”
Morrison’s teaching role will encompass delivering lectures, recruiting tutors, assigning tutorial groups, writing briefs and managing the judging of ADMA Award winners.
Says Morrison: “This is not about creating DM clones. The objective is to nurture the individual talents of every student. Help them find their own voice. And the skills to deliver great work to match.”
The announcement comes at the same time as ADMA launch a new nationwide competition to find the “Young Creative of the Year”.
Says Jodie Sangster, CEO ADMA: “We understand the need to inspire and support the next generation of marketers. That is why we want to have a strong education offering provided by Australia‟s most experienced marketers. Rob brings unprecedented marketing expertise, presentation and education skills drawn from two decades in the industry to ADMA’s Creative School.
“We are delighted he is joining ADMA’s Education team and will play an essential role in training the next breed of Australia‟s direct marketing talent.”
ADMA’s Young Marketer of the Year competition launches on 25 May 2012 and will provide entrants the opportunity to win a trip to New York to work with the best marketing brands and agencies. ADMA’s Creative School commences in August 2012.
Morrison was part of the founding team of Creative Directors who launched ADMA’s Creative School in 2003. He has guest lectured at ADMA’s Creative School since inception.
