Ogilvy Australia’s Leora Zuckerman and Isabella Smith win MADC/Creative LIAisons competition
The MADC is proud to announce Leora Zuckerman and Bella Smith as the winners of the 2021 Young Creatives Competition ‘One Page Pitch’ for their idea ‘The Upside Down Under’.
Almost 20 young creative teams from across Australia entered the competition, all bidding to creatively tackle the brief of lifting Australia’s spirits during lockdown.
A judging panel consisting of MADC committee members and guest judges Brie Stewart (Wunderman Thompson) and James Orr (SWM), unanimously decided that the young creative team from Ogilvy Sydney was well-deserving of first place.
Says Nick Jamieson, MADC director of youth projects: “If the entries are anything to go by, creativity in young Aussies is very much alive. We had some ripping ideas that put the judges through our paces. Although it was certainly a close race, Leora and Bella’s One Pager snuck out in front through a sharp insight and a very clever idea.”
Says Matt Lawson, MADC co-president: “Obviously, the MADC is a Melbourne club, but it seemed a little cruel to only have this opportunity available to young Melbourne creatives. And to be honest, we do need to be encouraging a more diverse group of voices in advertising, so we decided to open this up a little wider. It’s great to have a team from the little-known town of Sydney, Australia, win the comp and hopefully this will help propel their work and career forwards.”
Zuckerman and Smith will now take part in Creative LIAisons’ first-ever, global virtual one-to-one coaching and networking sessions for young creatives. Featuring 90 of the world’s most-experienced and most-awarded creative professionals, this is a once in a career opportunity to pick the brains of the best in the business.
