NRMA Insurance and Indigenous-owned creative consultancy Campfire x’s powerful documentary The Knowledge Keepers has made the shortlist for NewFilmmakers Los Angeles November 2025 Film Festival.

The documentary, which launched earlier this year, highlighted First Nations knowledge about land management and extreme weather preparedness, following First Nations land practitioners as they answer questions from the next generation on how to care for Country, drawing on 65,000 years of wisdom around fire, flood and heat management.

The Knowledge Keepers was created as part of NRMA Insurance’s support of Beyond 3%, which commits 3% of its broadcast media budget to First Nations media, an initiative identified and facilitated through its media partner, Initiative Media.

The 30-minute documentary is available to stream free on SBS On Demand.

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) is a non-profit organisation that champions emerging and independent filmmakers and storytellers from around the world and provides a forum where filmmakers can be recognised for their contributions, have open audience discussions about their work and connect with industry professionals for insight on distribution, production and representation.
