NOEL MAGNUS NEW CEO OF JWT AUSTRALIA AND NZ AS AMY SMITH JOINS JENNY CRAIG
After almost two years as CEO of JWT Australia and New Zealand, Amy Smith has accepted an offer from a client to become Managing Director, Jenny Craig, Australia and New Zealand and will be replaced by Noel Magnus (left), the recently appointed CEO of JWT Sydney.
JWT Worldwide President, Michael Maedel says, “Noel is an incredibly driven leader with an outstanding pedigree. He has worked with many prestigious agencies in Australia, the UK and the USA and has track record of world class achievement.”
Says Magnus: “I’m delighted to be handed this baton. There are great things already underway, with many, many more to come.”
Recent wins include Jenny Craig, Sheridan, Thrifty, Olympus, Band-Aid, Reach and Nokia.
After two years, Smith is leaving behind a new senior management team, new creative directors, new training programs, a new approach to business development and a fresh management approach in place. Her goal was to revitalize the agency’s creative reputation and to create a management structure that would sustain the agency in to the future.
Says Smith: “After working in the advertising industry for fifteen years, I never thought I would leave. But when Jenny Craig offered me this amazing role, I found the challenge irresistible.”

Anyone taking bets on how long the new CD’s will stick around???
Longer than they would have otherwise I would imagine.
Ummm …. how long do you think JWT will keep the Jenny Craig account? At least we know it won’t be won by Singletons any time soon!
That’s right, 3:43. Noel’s a good guy.
I’ve worked with Noel. He’s a creatively driven suit, which is rare. No doubt there will be business realities he needs to deal with. At least he gets what a good ad vaguely looks like. Good luck.
Well done Noel, you will make a huge difference. Look forward to reading more. Den
Any clues on the did she jump was she pushed ratio?
I like the headline Lynchy “…as Amy Smith joins Jenny Craig.”
Please, please spare us – don’t let her star in any new advertising.
I wonder how many barrels of oil they go through every week keeping that revoving door lubricated?
Dear Sir,
I’m intrigued by the soundtrack your agency used on the current Ford XR8 ute
T.V. Ads. It sounds like it’s been adapted from the German Gunter Kallman Choir
1970’s heyday ? However, I’m led to believe it’s an original composition sourced
specificaly for this Ad ? This appears a bit unusual as taken out of context it is a
catchy love song, seemingly unrelated to Motoring or Beer, which also features heavily too ! Some Ads have Jingles dedicated to a product, which usually gets a
mention. Or others adapt some ” oldie ” like Tooheys have done with the ancient
Tom Jones classic – ” Just help yourself “, which matches the adverts verve. So
am I deluding myself in thinking that is does not emanate from Australia & more
likely to be American or judging by the choruses style & diction…..German ?? If
so, would it be likely that Ford have used it world – wide in promos featuring many
various models ? Finally may I ask who wrote it, who sang it, where was it
recorded, is it available in its entirety & is its title- ” In Our Special Wonderland ” ?
Best Regards
Derek Smith
In agency business, no one leaves happily. After much stinging from investor STW about her effort, the sudden departure for a weight loss company is anyone’s guess. She has steam rolled many people there, now is her turn.
