Monster Children Short Film Awards now open for entries: Over $30k in cash + prizes to be won
Following a hugely successful launch in 2022, entries are now open for the second annual Monster Children Short Film Awards, presented by Lake Wānaka Tourism.
Emerging and established filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit entries on this year’s theme of Regeneration, with the films being judged by a once again stellar panel of industry guest judges: Malia James, Peter Burger and Clare Plueckhahn. The films must be at least 30 seconds long, and no longer than 10 minutes.
The winner will receive a $NZ10,000 cash prize, Sony hardware equipment worth $10,000, plus an all-expenses-paid trip to Wānaka, New Zealand to co-direct their short film idea with Monster Children Films and the local film industry.
Four runners-up will receive $1,000 in cash and a $500 Sony voucher.
Says Jamie Brewer, commercial director, Monster Children: “The inaugural 2022 Awards attracted 223 incredible entries, and we are looking forward to seeing what this year’s theme will uncover. It could be a documentary, an interview, or something entirely abstract. The most important thing is that the film interprets the theme of the importance of Regeneration.”
Submissions close on Sunday 14th May at 11.59pm AEST. Entry is free, and all the submitted films receive exposure to a considerable audience via the Monster Children website.
