MERV celebrates Obama in Australia

Former US President Barack Obama touched down in Australia this week to appear as the headline speaker for a series of leadership conferences in Sydney and Melbourne. In celebration of his arrival, MERV has re-released award winning photographer Ben Baker’s famous Obama image.

This image was shot while Baker and Obama walked to his car after their studio shoot and Baker snapped this one (now highly celebrated) frame, as Obama pointed his hand inches from the lens and drove away.

Says Baker: “My editors can only get me to the door; it’s my job to get through that door and find the unexpected. It’s my job to entertain, charm, persist, and always believe a greater image lies behind that door. It’s why I love what I do.”
