Screen shot 2010-12-07 at 3.03.18 PM.jpgTonight at 6:30pm over one hundred Melbourne voice artists, studios and agencies will gather at South Melbourne’s Water Rat Hotel for the first ever mvox (Melbourne Voice Artists) Christmas drinks, generously sponsored by talentplease.

Initiated by established voice artists Abbe Holmes and Troy Dean, with the support of talentplease, mvox is a community for the Melbourne voice over industry. The group will hold regular events and opportunities for voice artists, studios and agencies to get together.

Says Holmes: “Without an ‘office’ or a regular workplace, voice over artists work as freelancers and often alone. mvox is a great opportunity for us to connect with each other and the studios and engineers we work with, outside the studio.”

Adds Dean: “mvox events will give us the opportunity to have after work drinks, with other people, not just by ourselves”.

For talentplease, the launch of mvox coincides with the release of version 1.2 of the app on the iTunes app store. This new release features sees a faster, more efficient app, with the ability to send voice demos straight from the iPhone to client using email, cross referencing of artist and agent listings, multiple demos and photos, and a new search just for voice talent agencies.

Sales & Marketing Manager Jana Wilkes is buzzing about this new version, saying “We have enquiries coming through all day, every day, from Australia, the US, the UK – even as far as Tipparary, Ireland. This is the only app of its kind, making casting for talent quick, easy and effective, and also opening up the doors for Australian voice artists to be discovered by producers anywhere in the world. We’re excited to be sharing the launch of version 1.2 with the Melbourne voice over community”.
