McDonald’s consolidates account with DDB Sydney; moves social media from VLMY&R
McDonald’s Australia has expanded DDB Sydney’s remit to include social media, moving the latter responsibilities from VMLY&R, Sydney.
A spokesperson from McDonald’s said: “After reviewing the support we require from our external partners, we’ve made the decision to consolidate our creative and social agency support; expanding DDB’s remit to include the management of our social channels.
“We enjoyed a productive relationship with VMLY&R and thank them for the work they delivered during their partnership with us.”
Says Priya Patel, managing director at DDB Sydney: “We are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with McDonald’s. It’s a testament to the strength of our 48-year partnership and DDB’s growing social capability. We look forward to this next phase in our story together.”
In a statement issued by VMLY&R, the agency confirmed that it will remain on McDonald’s roster of agencies for special projects across CX, technology and innovation.

I can guarantee you are also part of a bunch of global problems that are no different. But you pretend you’re above it all. Just like we all pretend like anyone gives a stuff about advertising being shoved in the populations face every day. You have to question the commenters intentions to directly damage VLMY&Rs credibility in revealing this sort of info. I have heard several instances with agencies charging $15k+ for a single EDM that was whipped up in under 4 billable hours so you can’t fully rule it out.

From the post side of things, we’re always asked to throw in the social edits for free. Those often include duplicate cuts at 9×16 or square, with “internet” audio (louder than broadcast). This is 3 sets of masters with 2 thrown in for nix, but they take time to prep, check, approve, crop (pan and scan). We’re “obligated” to just do this and suck it up, but we’re SURE that the agency is charging client for them.
Not just McD btw who does this. It’s across the board.
of course the agency charge on production line items. its how fat fuckers sit in big chairs with 911’s in their garages. Its the guys out there making this stuff on hair-string budgets because they have mouths to feed that always get screwed.
