McCann Melbourne wins three-year creative services contract with WorkSafe Victoria
McCann Melbourne has secured a three-year contract to provide creative services for WorkSafe Victoria.
The agency won the contract following an open market, two-stage tender process which began late last year. The new contract will begin on 1 July 2017.
WorkSafe’s executive director of external affairs, Linda Timothy, congratulated McCann on its success: “McCann has enormous experience and delivered an outstanding proposal. We are confident that, together, we can create new ways to drive home the workplace safety message.”
McCann will be WorkSafe’s primary advertising agency until 2020, under a non-exclusive contract arrangement.
McCann managing director Adrian Mills said the agency was excited about the WorkSafe partnership and the challenges that lay ahead.
Says Mills: “In Victoria, WorkSafe and the idea of workplace safety are evolving. With evolution comes an opportunity to make an even greater contribution through use of brand and communication.
“We deeply appreciate the opportunity to partner with the WorkSafe team on this journey and the responsibility that carries. We couldn’t be more excited.”
Dr Timothy said a wide range of agencies had responded to the initial EOI, and a short list of selected agencies had impressed WorkSafe with the strength of their presentations during the pitch process.
Dr Timothy paid tribute to the work of the Shannon Company and whiteGREY, which had worked closely with WorkSafe under its previous creative services arrangements.

A two stage process that took half a year to complete.
Maybe we’ll see a rehash of Dumb Ways to Die?
Or one of the 50 other award winning campaigns they’ve cranked out in the past few years? Most people in the industry have heard a few horror stories about working at McCann but you can’t argue with results.
What does “McCann will be WorkSafe’s primary advertising agency until 2020, under a non-exclusive contract arrangement” mean. They’ve won the business, unless Worksafe decide to brief someone else? Genuinely curious.
50 would be overstating things a little.
Most of McCann’s awarded work is for small clients and often has a faint whiff about it.
Settle down.
Please, yes they’ve won a bunch of awards but dig a little deeper. Have a close look at the Playnasium case study and ask yourself, did it really happen? I think not. Good luck if you want to work in a shit environment and win awards for small clients.
As a parent of little kids who visit a lot of parks I wonder where Playnasium is? It looks like Elwood (we know the family featured in the video – friends of my kids) but I’ve never seen it – could someone post an address so we can check it out!? Looks like fun!
