MADC Presents “Create Activity” – a journey of creativity from Melbourne to Silicon Valley with Tim Kentley Klay on April 5, The Local Taphouse

MADC Presents is back – the first event for 2022 hosted at The Local Taphouse on Tuesday April 5th will premiere with keynote speaker Tim Kentley Klay, founder of Melbourne animation studio XYZ and post house Crayon and autonomous vehicle and mobility start-ups Zoox and HYPR.
Klay is a creative and technical entrepreneur. After being named dux of Swinburne University’s School of Design, he began his career here in Melbourne, and at 25 years old he founded the multi award-winning XYZ Studios, followed by Crayon. He eventually followed his ambition and instinct state-side, to found Zoox and then HYPR; two AI robotics companies developing mobility systems that ‘improve as they move’.
In 4 years, he built Zoox into a company valued at $3.2B, raised $800M in two rounds, hired 500 people, and filed 125 patents across software, hardware and design as he architected the development of a ground-up, vertically integrated autonomous mobility ecosystem. Zoox was acquired by Amazon and Tim moved on to his next adventure, HYPR.
Says Sarah McGregor, director of MADC Presents: “The first MADC Presents has been a long time coming but we are so looking forward to getting together in person to hear about Tim’s fascinating journey with autonomous vehicles, what he’s learned along the way, where he sees things going next and how he uses creativity to solve real world problems.”
