Lucy Anderson and Gabby Smith’s Young Lions Diary #1: Yoga, Kelce Brothers and the Media Brief

Lucy Anderson and Gabriella Smith, PR and Social Senior Account Manager and Senior Account Manager at Lassoo Media are representing New Zealand in the Media category of the Cannes Young Lions competition. Reporting exclusively for CB, the pair dive into Day One – complete with sunrise yoga, celeb podcast chat and inspiration from The Basement.

We started the day early with Morning Yoga with Makers AI, a rare moment of calm before the chaos properly kicked in.

We then went straight into a proper French breakfast followed by a quick swim at Croisette Beach Cannes.

Mid-morning we headed to Amazon Beach for their talk on the New Era of Podcast Advertising. The Kelce brothers (Travis and Jason) were on stage with Angie Moore and Vinny Rinaldi, sharing sharp insights on where audio is headed and how brands can meet audiences where they actually are. Smart, digestible stuff and definitely one of the better sessions of the day.

After that, we dropped into Meta Beach for their Welcome Aussies drinks. Good energy, and always great to bump into other Aussies before the week properly ramps up.

We spent the afternoon checking out the work in The Basement. It was a mix of big, loud ideas and quieter pieces that got us thinking ahead of our briefing.

After a quick lunch on the strip, we explored the Young Lions competition space to get our bearings for the next couple of days.

We wrapped the day with the live briefing. We now have 24 hours to respond to our Ovarian Cancer Action media brief.
