Louis Hu to director of design at US Sydney
Louis Hu has been appointed director of design at US Sydney, reflecting the growing demand for high-level design work from the agency’s entire portfolio of clients.
Says Chad MacKenzie, creative director at US: “Our rapid business growth over the last 12 months has been in no small part due to our ability to invest in our design and production teams, this has meant a major increase in the quality of the final product. As we all know execution is as important as idea and with Louis and his team now fully established we have a world class design offering.
“Hu is credited with the design of both Unilever’s LynxJet and MTV’s ‘Welcome Home Snoop’.”

Hey MD, you know how a photographer photographs a campaign? Well a graphic designer uses his skill to design a campaign.
Most beautiful design doesn’t stem from art directors, just as most of the best writing doesn’t flow from a copywriters keyboard. Creative’s are ideas people.

“Semi racist”? Really? Come on now, no need to unnecessarily play the race card here. That’s just a lame, smokescreen defence. No-one was even going there, let alone with any malice. What? The old ‘who’s on first’ gag and a harmless Iron Chef joke.? I think you’ll find it’s more a matter of people just wanting to deflate the pomposity of the photo and the PR claims. We spend our days peddling hyperbolic ad wankery to the public. Do we really need to keep subjecting each other to it here?

Josh, anyone in Australian advertising who promotes themselves with a picture that raises the bar for pretentiousness to a stratospheric new high deserves everything they get. I just hope it spawns a running gag of deliciously ridiculous promotional shots on this blog. That’s what would have happened in the good old days, when the industry was inhabited by funny, clever, unassuming people.
How can a photo that’s clearly taking the piss be pompous?
Louis did work on these campaigns as a freelancer and was then offered a full time role. When he turned it down, his name was removed from all the work.
