Liquid Animation Brisbane creates short for iconic tv broadcaster Sesame Street New York
Liquid Animation has delivered an original short for iconic children’s television broadcaster, Sesame Street, in New York, to be released early next year.
Called Ziggy the Rapping Zebrasaurus, it is an educational and fun program aimed at teaching pre-schoolers about shapes.
Liquid Animation managing director Steve Viner said the deal was a major coup for the Brisbane-based studio and highlights their significant base of overseas work for major US entertainment companies.
Says Viner: “Like millions of kids across the world, we grew up watching Sesame Street, so to be asked to develop an original series for the television show is a really big deal for our creative team. As a studio that has cut its teeth on producing work for other people, we’re extremely excited to be developing our own story ideas.”
This achievement comes off the back of a recent award win for the Lord Mayor’s Business Awards. The company’s extensive work for international companies has also garnered them a finalist Premier’s Export Award in the Arts and Entertainment category.
This is not Liquid Animation’s first foray into original content creation, having recently developed a series for Disney called Igutso, Animal Prankster, which is set for worldwide release.
Viner added: “Each two minute episode represents 600-700 hours of work for local writers, character designers, art directors, animators, compositors, musicians, and producers, so it is a huge investment for us. There aren’t many Australian studios selling to the likes of Disney and Sesame Street, but we’re pleased to be joining the ranks. This achievement takes us a step closer to our dreams of producing a full length feature film out of our Brisbane studio.”
