Leo Burnett Sydney most awarded Australian agency at Adfest – picks up Outdoor Grand Lotus
Leo Burnett Sydney has dominated at ADFEST walking away with 21 awards and the title of the most awarded agency in Australia.
Despite fierce competition, with this year’s 17th annual awards show attracting over 3,200 entries from 41 cities, Leo Burnett Sydney has also been named the second most awarded agency in Asia Pacific.
Among Leo Burnett Sydney’s wins is the coveted Grand Outdoor Lotus, which was won for Coca-Cola “Small World Machines”.
Says Shahir Zag, jury president of Outdoor Lotus, and chief creative officer Y&R MENA Dubai: “The Outdoor category has become more digital than digital. It is not only hijacking digital technology but inventing new technology. Leo Burnett’s ‘Small World Machine’s won Grande because it’s future-proofed, breathtakingly fresh and reminds us what it is to be human. It’s got everything.”
Also among Leo Burnett Sydney’s haul of awards are the prestigious INNOVA Lotus (celebrating outstanding innovation ideas for communication) and two Lotus Roots (recognising ideas inspired by local cultures) for “Small World Machines” and “Road to Recovery” for Bundaberg Rum (Diageo). Awards have also been won for “Run That Town” for The Australian Bureau of Statistics and “Comets” for Smirnoff Double Black (Diageo).
Says Andy DiLallo, chief creative officer, Leo Burnett Sydney: “I am proud of the entire team for this exceptional result at ADFEST. This is one of the first big international awards shows of the year so it is fantastic to see Leo Burnett Sydney making such a strong start and being honoured on the world stage in this way.”
Along with the recognition and accolades, Coca-Cola was named ‘Advertiser of the Year 2014’ and the raft of wins for “Small World Machines” certainly played a major role in that.

Well done LB. Flying the flag for Aust.
“breathtakingly fresh’
lolz
oh my, you didn’t just write lolz did you Mr Lolz? Now that’s breathtaking.
well done LB. ignore the losers.
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit bullshit. bullshit.
Such an absolute hideous scam. It really makes my head hurt. Think this is a genuine low point in our industry. Cynical and nothing but selfish motivation on LB’s side.No brief. no budget. no actual effect. A one off vending machine appears in a very controlled mall environment for a few hours at most. Just long enough to film clients and agency people pretending it is an important event in peace relations. vomit now. Perhaps 100 people saw it and since then only award show judges. vomit again. The technology didn’t work as described and the connections were corrected in post. Dry retching by now. Ask anyone who knows. All the questions on the screens are in English for the foreign judges obviously not the few locals. Coke should be ashamed and LB should feel pathetic. They spent more money entering it into award shows and making a video about it was than the entire fake event. But hey well done LB you should feel proud of what you did.
The most hollow of victories.
A very cranky insider?
minus Coke Small World Machines from this impressive Adfest winning list and Leo’s will still be the most awarded agency in Australia. Like Coke, big impressive work for big clients. So take your antidepressant and sleep well Mr. Insomnia. Good night 🙂
What is the “big impressive work for big clients” you speak about?
We all know what the deal is with the Coke thing. It’s all wink, wink, nudge, nudge and look the other way.
If you’re referring to Diageo, you’d probably be advised to be sure how much of that was legitimate advertising, and how much was agency-funded in order to create a nice case study or award entry.
I’d say Insomniac is on the money.
However, if Leo’s feel like they’ve accomplished something, good luck to them.
Wow Paul, why so bitter? No point in arguing with you. You always seem to have a lame come back. Diageo, Coke and the ABS are respected corporate clients. I somehow doubt they’d let Leo’s damage their brand with anything they didn’t agree too.
So cheer up buddy and start doing good work too.
No one is listening, you’re the only person screaming here 🙂
