KIRSTY GAVIN JOINS PUBLICIS MOJO
Kirsty Gavin has joined the Mojo Sydney creative department as art director, having freelanced there since November.
Formerly of Vogue London and The Campaign Palace, Kirsty will partner with Dean Barry Frederick Hunt. The partnership has already proved fruitful with the ‘Hidden Truths’ short film and commercial campaign for Nescafe, and a soon to be revealed pitch win which comes live later this year.
Says Publicis Mojo Sydney ECD, Micah Walker: “Kirsty’s a unique, playful thinker, and because there’s more to her creative world than advertising, she brings a genuinely fresh aesthetic to her work. We’re happy to have her in the department.”

Go Kung Fu Panda!
Nice to see a woman promoted on this blog for once.
I’ve got a love/hate issue with this idea of creatives flaunting their image as popstars. This business IS pop culture after all, I suppose. But then I’ve never gotten over the weirdness of watching the panel of The Gruen Transfer introduced as celebrities — to roaring cheers — when so few of the viewing public would recognise them from some arsehole who stole their place in the queue at their coffee stand the week before.
So maybe ‘the viewers’ pay more attention to ads than we give them credit for.
That announcement is an instant finalist in the ‘Most Pretentious Press Release’ category. Supporting evidence:
‘Dean Barry Frederick Hunt’?
‘…a unique, playful thinker’?
‘…brings a genuinely fresh aesthetic’?
Would do ‘Pseuds corner’ in Punch magazine proud.
Go AD!
full points for owning up to working on that hidden truths shit though. when they screened in cannes, people got so bored that they actually started booing. seriously.
just coz it’s different doesn’t mean it’s good.
They put that Hidden Truths stuff in at Cannes?
…was it on a dare?
11:36, sooooo you think it’s perfectly normal that a ‘celebrity’ like paris or some actor should be celebrities because…………… please I’m waitng for you to fill this gap cause I seriously can’t think of a single reason
Get over yourselves people. Never heard such crap on a blog. At least Publicis are doing something different. Beats the formulaic crap that tries to win awards by using the formula.
Thanks for that gem at 12:42, Darren.
what’s crap? that it was entered at cannes and the audience found it so boring they not only whistled, they actually started booing?
I was there and that happened. that’s no crap my friend. Course, it didn’t help that those fucking boring films went for ages… and they screened one after another and another…
Yeah, full points for not following the formula. But that doesn’t mean that that campaign didn’t stink the joint up. because it did.
Go Kirsty. You’re so talented I’m sure you’ll be amazing at Mojo.
Beautiful and talented.
Marry me Kirsty. If not, have my babies.
She used to work at Vogue – most girls would give their left arm for a job there. She now works at Mojo – most creatives i know are gagging to just get their books into that place. This girl is seriously going for it. I’m impressed. Plus she’s hell good looking and doing things slightly differently in ad-land. What a package.
dean hunt – you lucky bastard.
I LOVE KIRSTY
I think of Kirsty everytime I’m designing a new collection. My only reason for not trying to get with her is that she is, well, too good looking. keep it up – STAR. xx
11:36 would you feel more comfy if she was sitting at a desk holding a pencil? Kirsty is cool and so is mojo.
Vogue > Palace > Mojo > Adpartners > Adcorp
That’s my prediction.
Why, why, why?
She rocks! I’ve never met her but she does look playful with a genuinely fresh aesthetic.
God dammit I want to young again!
Wow! I never thought of having creative influences outside of advertising!! That’s such a unique quirk to bring to an ad agency.
Vogue > Palace > Mojo > Adpartners > Adcorp
That is HIGHLY unlikely. Nice try to bring her down, but being talented and good looking gets you further than Adcorp my friend.
we miss you!
Anyone in fashion knows that Vogue is the most conservative, formulaic mag around. Not slagging her, it’s just a fact.
what a terrible bunch of gits some of you are.
An irrelevant fact…Congrats Kirst, you are a hot star. Mojo is lucky to have you.
I heard she passed up a job at Droga5 to work under the watchful eye of adlands playful thinker, Micah Walker.
What is Adcorp? Is it a bad place to work at?
5:47 – not a slag but the career trajectory has headed south.
Creative and talented? Why is she working in advertising?
It’s arguably the lamest form of commodified creativity that exists.
Advertising people aren’t exactly the brains trust either. Most marketing and advertising people are the lowest common denominator in the intelligence stakes compared to many other industries.
Ha Ha Ha,
That is funny. Films in cannes!?
What a joke.
What are films doing there?
Oh….Oppps. Apparently we need them to ‘reference’ for EVERY SINGLE job that we ever make.
Darn, I guess they have to stay. Shame thought….
PS. Nice work Micah on thinking like a real creative agency.
This is news?
Come on.
And how come she gets two partners?
So she’s worked at Vogue London doing what?
And she was one of the team on Nescafe, okay.
So that makes her a ‘star’.
This blog is like a school newsletter, where sooner or later you get your pic in it for weaving a nice basket or something.
She is an art director, you moron, what do you think she did at Vogue? I think she looks like a cool kid and lets give her a chance to see what she makes of the Mojo gig.
Onya Kirstles. Tish.
Fuck me. Why does anyone gave anything put up on this blog? The inevitable result seems to be 20% positive comments, 80% negative shit from a bunch of anonymous hacks who take pot shots from the sidelines.
Nice work Kirstie. TCP f*&ked up big time when they lost you.
But that’s their one talent.
yeah good one July 17 10:00
You’re anonymous yourself…..oh shit….so am I.
whatever… made my point.
10:49 – It’s 10:00 here. To clarify my point, take no issue with positive comments, analysis or anything similar being left anonymously. But this blog is full of vicious bile that nobody would dare say if they could be identified or if they were face to face with their target.
That’s right, 11:04. That’s why it’s so entertaining.
Richard, have you still got my copy of Maus? I need it back please.
Has Kirsty Gavin ever won any awards?
I don’t think she has.
I think she has flown under the radar a wee bit. The power of female charm can sometimes be the winner on the day.
Hey, if she’s ever scored at AWARD, I’ll post an apology tomorrow.
Ain’t trying to be an Asshole, just keeping it real.
5:58
Keeping it real?
You plebs are obsessed with awards. The only aus creatives who have a reputation for winning them, have done them on the back of self initiated scams. Fair enough, that’s their choice, this is no new news but they’re not “keeping it real” But Kirsty is. She’s young and has been busy doing campaigns that are loved and seen by the people. And she’s into so many things which makes her an interesting creative to have on your team.
For example. She’s having an exhibition:
This Friday
Monster children gallery
20 burton st darlinghurst
I worked with her, she’s great. Worry about your own work.
Good luck. keep it real.
Hasn’t won squat. Doesn’t even get a guernsey on the creatives table in the CB rankings. Her name is nowhere to be seen. She has a good PR machine clearly.
This is 5:58. No awards, good PR, top gigs, all that hype about the value of female insights…..and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee……under the radar we go.
Sydney in a nutshell really, isn’t it.
Awards are for whores. So they can feel better.
Good Luck Kirsty.
I’ve never met you but I’ve worked with Micah and he’s got class. So I’m sure you do too.
11:04 ….10:49 – word.
this is the first time I’ve look at the blog in about 4 years… maaann advertising people are dicks.
good luck kirsty – you’ll need it.
Monster Children Gallery. No offense, but really, a suit could get a show there.
The exhibition was for charity. We raised a lot of money and the night went really well.
Thanks for the support everyone,
Kirsty
Is this Stephie Nicks? Sure looks like it.
Surely there is some other chick we can have a crack at. Isn’t 50 blogs enough already? Bored….
