Kathmandu gets out there with an Urban Zipline in new activation via Keep Left + District Agency
Outdoor lifestyle brand Kathmandu turned heads with a first-of-its-kind Urban Zipline at Sydney Harbour over the weekend, encouraging Aussies to get out there and experience the benefits of the outdoors. The activation was created in conjunction with Keep Left and District Agency.
Says Eva Barrett, chief customer officer, Kathmandu: “Last month, we announced our new purpose of improving the wellbeing of the world through the outdoors, and this event is just the first step in encouraging more people to feel the transformative power of being out there in nature.
“What better way than by bringing something as fun and joyful as the zipline to one of Australia’s most iconic locations.”
The Kathmandu Urban Zipline, which reached 40km p/hour and offered epic views of the Harbour, included a VIP event and exclusive performance from Australian musician G Flip, broadcast on Kathmandu’s social channels last Friday.
The activation also featured a pop-up Kathmandu store stocking the ’21 winter puffer range in fun and vibrant new colourways, as well as limited edition beanie badges.
The sold-out Urban Zipline also launched the brand’s partnership with Beyond Blue, with Kathmandu donating the full ticket price, plus matching every entry fee to raising funds for the Beyond Blue Support Service, a free and immediate short-term counselling service available to anyone in Australia.
Says Barrett: “Kathmandu has always known that the outdoors changes our brains for the better, and the science shows that when we spend time out there, our stress goes down, our empathy goes up, and we become more creative.
“That means we act differently. Nature makes us happier and more open, and fun. It’s a beautiful truth that Kathmandu wants to celebrate, and what better way than partnering with Beyond Blue, an organisation committed to helping people achieve their best possible mental health.”
This is the first of a series of events that will see Kathmandu become the official partner of #teambeyondblue, supporting those who take on anything from individual fitness challenges to large-scale running, cycling or swimming events.

Kathmandu stop trying to be “out there” or hip.
Go back to being legit adventure apparel.
You’re going down a sad road.
