Justin Ruben promoted to CD role at BMF Sydney – to team up with Warren Brown; Shane Bradnick to leave in New Year to join overseas agency
BMF Sydney has promoted Justin Ruben to creative director teaming him with BMF creative founder Warren Brown to provide creative leadership to the agency.
Executive Creative Director Shane Bradnick is leaving BMF in the New Year to join an agency overseas.
Ruben and Brown will work together across a number of BMF clients including LION, P&O, Weight Watchers, and George Weston Foods.
Ruben joined BMF almost two years ago. Prior to BMF he worked at BBH New York, Saatchi & Saatchi London as well as DDB and Publicis Mojo in Sydney. His work has won at AWARD, One Show, D&AD and Cannes and he has also won both a B&T Magazine ‘Campaign of the Year’ award and AdNews ‘Ad of the Year’ honour, in consecutive years.
Says BMF CEO Jeremy Nicholas: “Justin’s promotion is a just reward for his commitment and his talent. Having Warren and Justin work closely together with our teams is a great outcome for the agency and our clients.”
Joint Executive Creative Directors Carlos Alija and Laura Sampedro continue in their roles across BMF’s clients including ALDI, MLA and The Athlete’s Foot.
Says Nicholas: “Shane has made a great contribution to BMF over the last five years. He has risen through the ranks of BMF, making some great work and winning the respect and friendship of the agency and our clients. He is with us for a while yet to complete a number of important projects.”

I think it’s fair to say BMF’s had its ups but mostly downs of late. And this is the model that’s going to arrest that side, is it? Dear oh dear, I predict yet more pain. It’s like watching a dead horse flogging itself.
Congrats Justin… your perfect.
All the best Shane. You will kick ass wherever you go. Just keep tearing those posters in half.
Great news, mate. Well done.
The mark of how important you are to an agency is revealed in how they choose to announce your exit. There can be no higher tribute to Shane’s time at BMF than Warren being PR’d as his replacement.
I wonder if people will look back on BMF as fondly as everyone does The Campaign Palace.
What a monumental loss for BMF!
2:12… is that you shane?
Congrats Justin, well deserved.
Well done, Squire.
Well deserved, congrats Justin
Well done Rubes.
Sad news Shane. I hold fond memories of the M&C squash club.
Bring back Dylan.
They really miss Warren, don’t they.
BMF have had their time in the sun.
It’s hard to know what the brand stands for now.
How deliciously and simultaneously bitterly ironic that is.
I hardly think they’re PRing Warren as his replacement…he founded the bloody agency. And I’d say the last few years where he’s stepped back and left it to the new creative leaders has been their least creative period…
Maybe that’s why he’s getting more involved again…
Well deserved, Congrats Justin
Nice one old budz – killn it
To all the grumblers and anti-BMFers – get over it, it’s getting really boring.
Best of luck in the new role Shane, I’m sure you’ll be missed.
Big congrats Justin, nice one.
Good luck Shane, you’re a bloody legend.
I will miss you Shane.
He looks thrilled.
Well done Rubes you legend. Ian sends his best too
Well done Rubes. Mighty big news.
Well done Justin.
Couldn’t agree more ‘observer’ ever since Warren stepped back, BMF started it’s slow slide downhill. Got to PR Warren Brown’s hands on involvement in that agency for all to read (including clients) in the hope of trying to reinvigorate that BMF brand. BringBacktheWazza I say !
