It’s The Aunties 1st Birthday + Everyone’s Invited ~ get your tickets now before they’re gone

Industry mentoring and support network The Aunties, is celebrating its birthday with an epic party to celebrate its incredible inaugural year.

Tipped to be the most fabulous and welcoming event of the entire year (in their humble opinion), the event will recognise the over 300 women that have supported the Aunties program, through mentoring, events, planning and advice. But more than that, The Aunties have enjoyed the support of many allies across the industry and it’s a great opportunity for everyone to get together and PARTY.

Kicking off at Encore St-Kilda, Friday 25th November, the Aunties House Party will celebrate a massive first year for the initiative. Everyone is encouraged to join (yes even you fellas), to experience a unique event with tunes from Spotify, Auntinis on tap and delectable snacks and canapes.

The theme for the event is ‘Welcome to The Aunties’ House party,’ which will feature a pink and red wonderland of drinks, decor, and dress code.

Says Phoebe Sloane, founder, The Aunties: “The past 12 months have been a wonderful whirlwind and we thought there is no better way to celebrate all our mentees, Aunties, supporters and friends than with a very Aunties-themed do. We want to invite everyone in the industry to come over for a night at the Aunties’ House, to experience an event like no other. And this special occasion is made possible by our very generous supporters: Pinterest, Eric, Tom & Bruce, Spotify, Finch and Four Pillars.”

Says Amanda Chen, program creative, The Aunties: “This is our first event open to all genders in the industry. So we wanted a theme that felt welcoming and inclusive, just like a house party. Who doesn’t love a good house party?!”

In just 12 short months, the Aunties have gone from strength to strength. Starting off the year with a bang, launching the junior mentorship program – seeing 88 young women paired with 88 mentors. In just six months the Aunties went on to launch their Senior Mentorship Program – connecting over 240 industry and future leaders through the iconic Speed-Auntieing event.

As the Aunties close out 2022, they plan to continue to expand the program into Sydney and create more mentorship programs, networking events and seminars in 2023.

Says Simon Thomas, co-president MADC and honorary ‘Auntie Simo’: “It has been incredible to watch The Aunties become a strong and positive force that has rippled into all corners of our industry. Myself, Co-President Matt Lawson and the whole MADC Committee and Community can’t wait to celebrate this success and all the wonderful women behind this initiative.”

To invite guests, the Aunties team, alongside Eric, Tom & Bruce have generously put together a launch film directed by Olivia Altavilla, to invite everyone along to the house-party, which features some familiar Aunties and industry characters.

Says Olivia Altavilla, director, Eric, Tom & Bruce: “It was an absolute joy to channel that 90s/early 2000s cinema nostalgia into a wonderfully collaborative creative process with The Aunties. Even though we were heavily inspired by Mean Girls (thank you to the GOAT Tina Fey), I hope this spot can make everyone smile and feel welcome to join the party!”

The Aunties House Party is generously supported and brought to life by Pinterest, Eric, Tom + Bruce, Spotify, Finch and Four Pillars. Tickets start at $130, which includes delicious canapes and drinks all night long – plus an exciting music act to be announced really soon.
