Instagram to introduce video advertising
Instagram is introducing a new way for brands to tell their story through video advertising.
The video ads, which will roll out in the coming weeks, will be a way to connect the Instagram community with inspirational content from their favourite brands.
The video ads will allow brands to share their unique point of view through the power of visual language in one of the world’s most creative communities.
Instagram has partnered with select brands to launch the 3 to 15 second video ads and will maintain its hands-on approach in developing dynamic content.
With more than 300 million monthly actives, a little more than four years after launch, Instagram proves to be a powerful marketing tool for brands.
Says Matt Jacobson (pictured), Instagram’s head of growth: “I think video will be big and it’s going to change everything. That thinking of Instagram in terms of still images and being able to tell the story visually and then being able to tell it through a photo or auto-play video, that’s a lot for a brand to understand – and our users.”
Video ad partners include:
· McDonalds
· L’Oréal
· New Zealand Tourism
· Qantas

Unique point of view – just what the world needs!
Wow. Selling brands using moving pictures in 15 seconds, that is new.
does that profile picture look like the stock photo used to promote the new Vince Vaughn movie to anyone else?
how advertising is going to kill instagram. awesome! can’t wait. is it mac time yet?
ok, instagram’s gone now.
what’s the next network that we flock to?
“will allow brands to share their unique point of view through the power of visual language”
eerrr….but i thought advertising was dead? And people who make ads were all going to be out of a job?
probably the most stupid comment I’ve read on here this year (and that’s saying something)
9 brands out of 10 will basically run the equivalent of banner ads. And we all love those, don’t we?
Images on instagram are far easier to digest for the user. Videos from corporations will simply be swiped straight past. If I was a company and wanted to get my message across as quickly as possible.. I’d stick with images.
#gamechanger
I guess it’s more work for all of us who work in video production and animation for advertising. However, I’m not a big fan of sitting through a video ad first just to gain access to a single picture? This will piss off alot of users.

Thanks for that fucking idiotic statement. So much to understand, pictures and videos. I’m confused.
