Hi, Campaign Brief.
The last couple of days has seen us tackle our Young Lions 24 hour brief, and present to a jury of industry legends. We even managed to squeeze in a swim and a few hours sleep, which we’ll take as a win.
Here’s some of the good stuff we’ve seen since then.
- 1. Building your brand as an operating system by R/GA
Sneaking out of the Young Lions working space for a quick fix of inspiration, we saw Tiffany Rolfe, Global Chief Creative Officer and Tom Morton, Global Chief Strategy Officer at R/GA chat about building brands. Their take is that brands should be built as toolkits and act more like operating systems – an underlying code that helps keep things true to the brand, but that is designed for others to build and iterate upon. An open ended approach to brand design that is inspiring in its collaborative process. It was a super interesting perspective (and super successful in their work). We’d read a whole book about it if we could.
- 2. Design Lions
The Awards Hub is an absolute gold mine of award board goodness. Design Lions Jury President Quinnton Harris walked us through some of the awarded work, giving us an insight into what went down in the judging room. The whole thing had us pretty starry-eyed, and our minds were blown by the Grand Prix winner, McCann New York’s ADLaM. Design rules.
- 3. Voice of Creativity: The Musical by Dentsu Inc.
We’ve had a lot of smiles since being in Cannes, but none wider and more beaming than when we finished watching what we’re sure is the most joyous “talk” at the whole festival. A film director, composer, and performing artist delivered a session on the importance of an individual’s voice for creativity, complete with a dancing mascot named ‘Voicy’, interviews with some super interesting and talented creators, and a head-banging musical conclusion. It was weird and colourful and awesome – a great reminder that seriously meaningful work doesn’t have to be super serious.
That’s it from us for now, we need to go to bed.
