Iconic Aussie screen legends reunite for Uber’s latest Uber Green campaign via Poem Group
Uber has officially made the switch – Uber Green is now fully electric across Australia, with hybrid vehicles phased out as of April 2025. To mark the milestone, the brand has launched a new campaign via Poem, reuniting beloved Aussie screen icons Michael Caton, Stephen Curry and Anthony Simcoe to show that going green is “just common sense”.
The comedic trio, who last shared the screen nearly three decades ago, are now backing one colour – green – as they come together to promote Uber’s zero-emission ride option. The campaign highlights that Uber Green rides are now not only fully electric, but also priced the same as a regular UberX trip – making the sustainable choice a more accessible one for Australians.
Says Caton: “I reckon the best thing we can do is leave the world a better place for the next generation, and making choices that are better for the environment is a massive part of that. When greener choices are as easy as tapping for an Uber with no vehicle emissions and fully electric, why would you do anything else!”
Says Curry: “It’s been 28 years since the three of us last appeared on screen together and I couldn’t resist the chance to catch up with a couple of old mates over a beer, and to back a great initiative at the same time.”
Adds Simcoe: “There aren’t many people who could convince me to get in front of the camera again but Stephen and Michael are two of them. I thought my acting days were done to be honest – getting together with these two brought back a lot of good memories. Add in supporting greener choices and it was a no brainer.”
The campaign launch follows new research revealing cost and convenience remain key barriers to Australians adopting more sustainable behaviours. Over 40% cite cost as the main deterrent, and 65% say they favour ease over eco-friendly choices. Gen Z in particular feels this tension more acutely, with many saying they’d go green if it was as simple as picking a lipstick shade or an ice cream flavour.
Says Emma Foley, Managing Director of Uber Australia & New Zealand: “As Uber works towards a future that is shared and electric, we have a huge role to play Down Under. Our goal is to make it easy to choose more sustainable options without compromising on price or experience. With Uber Green priced the same as UberX and now fully electric, switching to an electric ride is just a tap away. We are proud to have three iconic True Blue Aussies join forces with us to remind people across Australia that greener choices are available on the Uber app.”
Uber Green’s fully electric service is now available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and the Gold Coast. The campaign aims to drive awareness around this shift and inspire more Australians to make everyday sustainable choices, proving that going green really is just common sense.
