ICON promotes Georgina Rees to Executive Director, Brand, Creative and Communications

As part of its continued strategic evolution, reinforcing its integrated model and strengthening its national footprint, Icon Agency (ICON) has announced the promotion of Georgina Rees to the newly expanded role of Executive Director, Brand, Creative and Communications.

The new position unifies leadership across ICON’s brand, creative and communications functions, in recognition of the increasing interconnection of these disciplines in a rapidly shifting communications landscape.

Rees, who joined ICON last year, brings extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams and will guide ICON’s specialists under a single strategic vision. Her appointment further embeds ICON’s interdisciplinary model, unifies practice areas, and strengthens the agency’s market positioning.

Says Rees: “ICON’s strength lies in the breadth and depth of our capabilities, and the opportunity now is to ensure we’re delivering even greater impact through connected thinking and collaboration. I’m looking forward to working closely with our teams and clients to continue delivering exceptional outcomes.”

In her new role, Rees will be responsible for ICON’s national market positioning, strengthening cross-team collaboration to deliver integrated, channel-agnostic solutions, and fostering a unified, inclusive culture that supports specialist talent. She will also serve as a senior advisor to clients, act as a visible ambassador for the agency, and play a key role in driving strategic new business growth.

“Georgina’s appointment is an important step in how we continue to evolve ICON’s integrated service model and leadership structure,” says ICON Managing Director, Joanne Painter. “This new role provides a central point of strategic leadership across our key disciplines and reflects our commitment to continued innovation in how we partner with clients.”

The news follows recent integrated campaigns for ICON, including the Melbourne Marathon Event, The Museum of Australian Democracy and The Athlete’s Foot.
