H&R Block ‘doesn’t miss a thing’ in new campaign launch via Joy
Australia’s leading tax agents H&R Block has launched a new multi-million dollar marketing campaign, reminding Australians that when it comes to getting more back this tax season, H&R Block don’t miss a thing.
The campaign kicks-off with four new TV spots, via Joy, directed by The Glue Society out of production company Revolver.
Says Simon Ludowyke, general manager of Joy: “The ‘We don’t miss a thing’ campaign hits at the heart of our fear of missing out –in this case on something that hits our back pocket. Finding the right advisors is a critical step, and this campaign brings H&R Block’s expertise and impressive track record to the forefront.”
Says Brodie Dixon, managing director of H&R Block: “There are many tax deductions that may not be identified by do-it-yourselfers and that is where H&R Block steps in. We don’t miss a thing when preparing our clients’ tax returns to get the most out of their refunds.”
The three month campaign includes OOH, radio, digital, print, ambient, and in-store activations targeting taxpayers with various executions of one visually engaging question: if you don’t see the guys at H&R Block, what might you miss this tax season?
The campaign targets taxpayers under 45 years of age, many of whom are reverting to Australian Tax Office’s E-Tax and MyTax online systems, which could result in them missing out on important deductions that can be obtained by seeking expert help. The campaign pairs distinct visuals with a creatively quirky approach, putting the non-sexy topic of tax returns on the consumer’s agenda.
Says Ludowyke: “Nearly every Australian in gainful employment struggles with tax returns this time of year. Let’s be honest, it’s the last thing you want to think about. Our team created a concept based on the all too present knowledge that, somewhere in the maze of taxation red tape and bureaucracy, there are savings to be found.
In addition to targeting a broad base of Australian workers, the campaign was also devised to hone in on younger taxpayers – with an outdoor campaign running at major universities. Striking billboards have been developed to catch attention while the TV spot draws the eye to the proverbial elephant in the room.

Love these.
Great work Loz and team!
Really?
It’s about 10 years late to this whole quirky ‘Arts and Crafts’ graphic design thing.
Looks like a Partizan-directed commercial from 2003.
Nice one, Vanessa! These look great x
Great VO
These are lovely. Sweet, simple, engaging ideas. Well done!
Cute, catchy and thought-provoking..congrats Serena!
Who’s the narrator?
Shame on you for using an elephant in your commercial. During training, baby elephants are taken from their mothers, tied down, and BEATEN so severely that they bleed and SCREAM, all in order to force them to perform ridiculous tricks and act in commercials. This shows not only ignorance on your part but even worse, your lack of compassion or integrity.
Very clever – especially the elephant ‘
These are great ad spots. I hope we can do something this clever in the US
YO MAN
I just saw H&R Block Australia’s latest advertising campaign featuring a live “trained” elephant. PeTA Asia-Pacific has started a petition to tell the company that this cruel exploitation of innocent elephants in Thailand is unacceptable. Please take a moment to sign and share the petition, you can see more details here: http://ow.ly/B1cPi.
