gruenplanet.jpgGruen Planet episode 5 premieres tonight (Wednesday) at 8:30pm (EST) ABC1 starring host Wil Anderson and regular key panelists Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft.

Tonight’s guest panelists include Dee Madigan, Madigan Communications boss and Transfer legend as well as Jeremy Nicholas, CEO of BMF, one of Australia’s most awarded agencies.

In tonight’s episode:

  • People Smuggling – You may not know it, but one of the methods used by the Australian government to stop the boats is advertising. The Gruen team looks at the No To People Smuggling YouTube channel, which has been aiming ads at smugglers and refugees for two years.
  • Company Apologies  – In the wake of Victoria Bitter’s apology to the nation, we ask, is saying sorry just a clever form of marketing?
  • Spin Cycle – Counting down our favourite recent attempts at publicity and image control. This week’s nominees: Ketut, the Free Syria Army and Woolworths.
  • Personal Worst – Each week, Gruen continues its search for the WORST performance by an athlete in a TV commercial. Tonight, one that will be hard to beat, a magnificently awful spot from former Carlton footballer and Dancing With The Starswinner, Anthony Koutoufides.

Tonight’s pitch is between Antony Warrington from Group Hug Creative in Melbourne and Kirsty Visman from Made4Media in Brisbane. The brief is to convince Australia to lift all restrictions on cigarette advertising in Australia.
