Golden Circle encourages Aussies to SmilePay this Summer in new campaign via 72andSunny
Golden Circle is bringing a splash of sunshine to the Australian Summer with the launch of an innovative, SmilePay vending machine, part of a new campaign via 72andSunny and software development company Enabled 2 GO Technologies.
The vending machine uses existing smile recognition software to recognise an Aussie smile and in return release a complimentary ice-gold Golden Circle fruit drink popper.
The machine will be located on the Gold Coast, popping up at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre with locals invited to experience SmilePay’s innovative technology as well as opt-in for Golden Circle to share their SmilePay moment across the brand’s social channels; for the chance to win a year’s worth of Golden Circle drinks.
Says Meneka Ratnasothy, brand manager – beverages at Kraft Heinz ANZ: “After the year that was, Golden Circle wanted to bring joy and a splash of sunshine to our sunny Summer days. So, what better way to do this than by getting Aussies smiling for the chance to win complimentary icy-cold Golden Circle drinks.
“Our first SmilePay pop up at Pacific Fair will see hundreds of complimentary Golden Circle Golden Pash poppers released to smiling Gold Coast locals. We encourage everyone to head down, join in the action and help splash sunshine with Golden Circle.”
Says Luke Martin, head of product at 72andSunny: “We’ve enjoyed working alongside Golden Circle to create SmilePay, a unique product offering that embraces the brand’s Share the Sunshine messaging, and it’s something we know Aussies will enjoy this Summer.”
SmilePay will be promoted via a targeted social campaign and Golden Circle is also calling on Aussies to tell them where its SmilePay vending machine pop-up should head next. To suggest a location, Aussies can visit Golden Circle’s Facebook and Instagram and share their thoughts.
To try out the wider range of Golden Circle, and enjoy a glass of sunshine this Summer, simply head into any major supermarket near you.

Dudes, I’m surprised it’s not dancepay.
Don’t these guys have google as a client? Would have been good to do that first. This is really embarrassing for the agency.
Love a good vending machine idea. But what if they launched it into space as well?? Now we’re talking.
Top pick for activation
Agreed. Or even when Magnum did it in 2012?

You come on. That was 6 years ago. Move on.
Oh cool, didn’t realise we didn’t need to come up with original ideas anymore. Can just recycle from the Cannes back catalogue. Thanks!
Are you seriously saying it’s ok to blatantly copy other people’s ideas, as long as enough time has elapsed?
C’mon, give us a smile…
…would love to see the actual thing though!?!?
Hard to top this one from 2012. Looks like it was done in Adelaide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8RIqJLUYSE
Remember that time Coke cured sociopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan with a video screen in a vending machine?
Also, shouldn’t 72andsunny be called 22.2°and sunny in Australia? It just has a much better ring to it.
Are Aussie smiles different from other nationalities?
Yes. Aussie’s are. They moan a lot on blogs.
Man, this is so old.
