Thunderbirds are GO: insurance giant GIO extends its trustworthy campaign with new ‘Whistle and Hum’ TVC via Leo Burnett Sydney
Building on its current brand campaign “It’s a Trust Thing”, GIO has launched its latest TVC, “Whistle and Hum” via Leo Burnett Sydney.
The commercial demonstrates how GIO go into action for their customers’ everyday and in a crisis.
All are whistling a tune that is synonymous with going into action, the soundtrack from one of the most legendary emergency services in television history – Thunderbirds.
The commercial is part of a fully integrated campaign for GIO, showing people going into action to ensure the Australian way of life goes on. A really important part of this campaign was to feature a real GIO staff member and show how the Customer Response Team go into action. This is something new for GIO and is a key part of building on GIO’s credibility & trust positioning.
The campaign is built around the insight that in a world full of uncertainty it’s important that you can trust someone to be there in your time of need. The TVC focuses on the line: “When your world stops we GO into action.”
Says Peter Williams, executive manager, marketing, GIO Insurance: “GIO is a brand that goes into action for its customers 24/7 from big disasters to small repairs. This campaign brings tangibility to what we do for our customers every day.”
Says Andy DiLallo, chief creative officer of Leo Burnett Sydney: “By drawing on the attributes of heroism and responsiveness in the face of real-life human experiences, we are able to highlight the brand in action while creating and building a feeling of relief and trust that GIO is there when you need them most.”

really uninspiring and boring.
Yawn.
Blah blah blah blah blah shit blah blah blah
Truly awful. Given that Leo’s are slowly losing the brand to Ogilvy – you’d think they’d raise their game. Clearly not.
Waste of a good tune.
Better than that horrible animated stuff they were doing before.
Great track – annoyingly gets in your head
So much better than the last ad GIO ran – the eulogy
Coles “Little Red Car” versus Thunderbirds … Thunderbirds are go …
