Giant sandwich spotted floating on Lake Whakatipu in Subway teaser via Publicis

Subway New Zealand has taken to Queenstown waters for the filming of its next brand marketing campaign, set to go live across the Australasia region next month developed by Publicis Worldwide.
Eagle-eyed Queenstown locals were quick to notice the arrival of a giant Footlong sub on Lake Whakatipu earlier this week, sharing photos across social media and local community groups in a mission to find out more.
The giant sandwich is part of the latest campaign celebrating the brand’s iconic Footlong sub. Recent campaigns have included bold billboards showcasing a larger-than-life view of the food, without a logo or brand name in site.
Saus Rodica Titeica, head of marketing, Subway: “Judging by the response from locals so far, the iconic Footlong sub is well-known, well-loved and easily identifiable.
“Very few brands can showcase their products without context, and still manage to have fans recognizing it, tagging their social media handles and wanting to know more”.
This isn’t the first time Subway has opted to film on New Zealand shores for both ANZ markets, with the brand also shooting their Eat Fresh relaunch campaign starring Julian Dennison in Auckland late last year.
Adds Titeica: “With the countless idyllic landscapes on offer and fantastic film crews who are enthusiastic in helping us bring our bold ideas to life, it was a no-brainer to film our next TVC in New Zealand.”
Fans will have to wait to see why exactly the sandwich was in Lake Whakatipu when Subway’s TVC launches next month. It will be the sixth campaign produced by Publicis Worldwide since their appointment as the brand’s creative agency of note for Australia and New Zealand, in mid-2020.

Considering that the only thing anyone knows about Subway is that there ‘tuna’ contains no sign of any tuna DNA in it (and was ‘unidentifiable’), I am not sure I would be going with a water based ad.
Nice work.
….and sandwich advertising…. ahhh…..
It takes 3hrs and nothing comes out. IYKYK.
Cool story, bro!
Where was my invite?
Noting quite like a huge s#@t sandwich in an idyllic location.
… was this not called the Sub Marine ?
Subway Ireland: bread deemed as not bread
Subway USA: tuna has no tuna/fish DNA
Subway US: re launches with new look and offers free subs literally no one took them up on the offer
Looks like an idea from tinkerbell
Is there an idea in this beyond ‘floating sandwich’?
The closest a Subway sandwich has been to real fish in quite a while.
Imagine going to beautiful Queenstown to see the picturesque surrounding and being confront with this floating dookie.
I didn’t know this was a Subway commercial.
I thought it was a floating log with a bunch of losers sitting on it doing an episode of Deliverance.
So they’ve taken the latest Suzuki brand platform and slapped it on a sandwich?
