Fujitsu ambassador Mark Taylor reveals Mandolin talent in latest TV campaign via 303Lowe, Sydney
Fujitsu is celebrating hidden talents with a new campaign via 303Lowe.
The campaign features Fujitsu ambassador cricket legend Mark Taylor demonstrating his little known musical skills on the Mandolin.
The TV spot showcases the dual ability of Fujitsu air conditioners to heat your home in winter, as well as keeping it cool in summer.
The campaign builds on the brand’s recent spot ‘Ball Control’ which featured Mark Taylor demonstrating his expert ball skills.
Says Marc Cheah, national marketing manager, Fujitsu: “This fun campaign showcases why Fujitsu is Australia’s favourite brand for both hot and cold air. Mark Taylor’s unique talent on the Mandolin is a great way to generate awareness of the heating capabilities of Fujitsu air conditioners and create a great musical spot.”
Says Richard Morgan, executive creative director, 303Lowe: “When Mark Taylor showed off his ball skills in our last spot we were impressed; but this time around he’s knocked it out of the park. Who knew his skills extended to music as well?”
The campaign will run across TV, Print and POS.

I really like this, first ad for them where the use of ol’ Tubby doesn’t actually feel forced.
As DG said, you’ve made Mark Taylor not sound like a sportsman, which is a feat in itself.

What point are you making again? Give it the turn of the sound test and it fails miserably.

Oh yeah… the ‘turn off the sound’ test. Clients/ bad suits have used this old chestnut for decades to kill good TVC ideas.
But i wonder what the equivalent test is for branded content? Or webisodes? Or an activation piece?
Sure, people don’t always watch the ads. That’s because they are not watching them.
But if they do, they’ll listen to them as well.

Interesting ad, though do consumers really not know that reverse cycle aircons do heating as well? It’s not exactly a new feature!
Does anyone find it strange that there are no full camera shots showing Mark actually playing the mandolin?
To me, they are all cheeky camera angles and video edit that makes it look like he knows how to play.
