TBWA\Media Arts Lab, the bespoke agency for Apple, has today announced the appointment of Katie Kidd (left) as senior art director and Lizzie Wood (right) as senior copywriter, who will be reporting to group creative director for Australia and New Zealand, Stuart Alexander.

Joining from The Monkeys, they’ve brought human insights to life in emotionally poignant as well as deeply unserious ways for clients like Telstra, Australian Lamb, NRMA, Berlei, including recent campaigns for UN Women’s “When Will She Be Right?” and TAB’s “Sport is our Sport.”

Originally hailing from Ireland, Kidd rose up the ranks at independent agency Boys + Girls before moving to Australia, and in 2020, forming a creative partnership with Wood at award-winning agency The Monkeys.

Their work has been recognized at Cannes, Spikes, Shots, The One Show, The Webby’s, Jay Chiat, 1.4, and AWARD, while being named AWARD’s 2022 Team of the Year, AWARD School Tutors of the Year, Australian Young Lions Winners, and B+T’s 30 Under 30.

On their appointment, Kidd says: “Apple is a global brand like no other, with an incredibly high standard for creative and craft. The opportunity to create original work both locally and globally is a huge one, and one we’re excited to make the most of.”

Says Wood: “The enthusiasm Brent [Anderson], Jake, Stu, and the MAL team have to create insightful, epic, world-class creative for Apple is bordering on overzealous. That suits us perfectly.”

Says Alexander: “We’re building something at Media Arts Lab ANZ and are beyond thrilled to have Lizzie and Katie join the team. They are a special brand of sharp, spiky thinking and impeccable craft will push us to exciting places. Plus, they’re also funny.”

The addition of Kidd and Wood follows TBWA\Media Arts Lab ANZ experiencing great momentum in Australia marked by the appointment of Stuart Alexander as group creative director and Jake Donaghey as general manager. Together they kicked off the year with two uniquely Australian campaigns: “Swooped” featuring the infamous magpie and iPhone’s durability, and “Lexie’s heart” and “Bruce and the Roo,” highlighting two Australians whose lives were saved by the Apple Watch.
