Branding the Block (1).jpgFormer executive creative director and founding partner of Marmalade, Neil Mallet, has spent the last two years developing a new business venture called, ‘Grassart’.

Grassart uses a unique manufacturing system to produce branded synthetic grass installations and elements for promotional, educational and sporting applications.

With this manufacturing technology, developed in Europe by Signgrass, bespoke designs can be tufted directly into the synthetic grass surface, creating a seamless piece of colourful, hardwearing messaging or branding.

The BLOCK STUDIO (1).jpgSays Mallet: “Synthetic grass is now a pretty distinctive and unique creative platform.”

Grassart was commissioned by the “The Block” to produce an oversized branded mat, with the new season logo tufted into the surface.

The detailed mat was placed in the mud in front of “The Block” houses for the Club branding (1).jpgpromotional spots and, then it was hosed off to be used in the studio judging segments. It is the perfect branding for the aerial and high shots in the show.

According to Mallet, making tough, branded mats and floor sections is just one of a myriad of applications of the highly distinctive product.

Says Mallet: “It’s a new way for a brand to really own a space. Playstation (1).jpgLandscape architects, marketing managers, sports marketers, event organisers, even property developers and interior designers have recognised the creative possibilities.

“We can work with clients to create anything from a 3D wall, to textural logos for event spaces. We can develop an entire branded sports area, an experiential space or simply create very A play area project (1).jpginteresting, tactile posters.

“We have recently completed a large, one-off design for a shopping centre children’s play zone and are now looking at branded spaces for the Melbourne Cup and other sporting events. The product is remarkably versatile.”
