foodora delivers top Melbourne retailers lunch via drones in experiential campaign via IE Digital
Restaurant delivery service foodora has joined forces with Melbourne-based innovation and experience agency IE Digital, to gather some of the biggest and most influential names in retail, and served them lunch with a difference – delivered by drones.
Drones have been the hot topic of conversation of late, in relation to the advancements of food delivery, made possible with technology, and now foodora and IE Digital got in on the conversation.
On November 16 foodora showcased to guests that it is at the forefront of these developments in the food delivery space. Mouth-watering foodie offerings from popular partners of foodora, after the initial drone delivery from Fonda, included; The Beer + Burger Bar and Miss Chu.
Whilst guests enjoyed their unique lunch experience, they also had the opportunity to discuss why getting on board with technological advancements is more important than ever, to disrupt oneself and stay ahead of the competition. Retail guests so far include: Forever New, Mecca, Myer, Amcal, Susan Group, and The Body Shop.
Brick and mortar retailers are now fully embracing e-commerce and in-store digital as being a game changer. IE’s founder, Rhys Hayes, and foodora Melbourne’s CEO, Pan Koutlakis, shared with guests some of the key differences that makes innovators successful in global markets.

Is this a joke?
What an absolute load of sh*t
Thinking, in fact I can’t even call it thinking – lets call it executions. Yeah, executions like this make your agency look like a bunch of amateur hacks.
sizzle, ouch, burn
The WITH collective IsoWhey ad was bad, but this one beat everything I have seen in ages!
Why PR this?
Didn’t the guy who got a sausage from Bunnings via drone about a month ago get fined $8k? I hope you guys got a decent ROI on this because I’m sure there’ll be a fine to follow.
At least it’s very self-aware…
The blog post on their site is even better: “It was an unmissable chance to experience the future of food delivery and be part of the debate around digital advancements and the future of disruption!” Wow. Just, wow.
There is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary.
Uh oh. Donald Trump making viral stories with big data is smarter than this dross.
The next level of drones successfully delivering creative devoid of an idea.
I can’t wait until people start getting food delivered by drone.
Music wasn’t epic enough.
“…said” – CASA went after the Bunning’s sausage man with a vengeance for flying too close to an airport. Drones don’t mix very well with jet engines or aircraft windscreens.
However, they’re pretty clear on requiring both five days notice and only flying line of sight for something like this. If you were in NZ you’d be fine (see the Dominos stunt there last week, done with full approval of NZ’s CAA), but here you’re on thin ice.
Lesson: do your research before doing a stunt, or be prepared to face the consequences if they eventuate.
