FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 appoints Saatchi & Saatchi as creative agency; launches new ‘Nothing Beats Like It’ campaign
Following a competitive pitch, the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 Local Organising Committee has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi as its new creative agency.
Off the back of the win, the agency has been tasked with creating a campaign to engage and excite the basketball community, whilst also extending the reach to new fans.
‘Nothing Beats Like It’ aims to inspire Australians to be at the international sporting event by encapsulating the event’s energy and excitement. Featuring some of the world’s best basketball players, the campaign beats to the game’s lively soundtrack – from the ball bouncing on the court, shoes squeaking on the varnished floor to the echo of cheering fans.
The campaign will appear in the lead up to, and during the games, and will include film, print, OOH, digital and social content.
Says Taryn Kirby, general manager of marketing, media and Communications for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 Local Organising Committee: “We’re delighted to appoint and work with Saatchi & Saatchi as they clearly understood the excitement and passion we expect to generate through this global event.
“The new creative demonstrates the vibrancy and unity of our players and audience; we are looking forward to rolling it out across Australia in the lead up to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney next year.”
Says Toby Aldred, general manager of Saatchi & Saatchi: “Working on the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 is a rare opportunity. We intend to fire up as many Australians as possible to experience for themselves what it feels like to be court side at a live game with the best of the world’s players here in Sydney.”
The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup will be held from Thursday 22 September to Saturday 1 October 2022 at Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia. The international event is supported by the NSW Government through tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, and the Office of Sport.
