Over the last three and a half years, Wheeler has played a key role in the acquisition and growth of key clients such as William Hill, Techtronic Industries and Jeld-Wen, and has created some of the agency’s most internationally recognised work.

Says Wheeler: “The time had come for a fresh challenge, and while exploring new avenues was always a consideration, the opportunity to help shape an agency I was already endeared to and invested in was hard to look past. The most important aspect of any business is the people, and therein lies the strength of Fenton Stephens. The desire to do great work and the lack of pretence inherent in the culture is always refreshing.”

On top of being both an AWARD School tutor and judge, Wheeler remains creatively active inside and outside of the agency, with a reputation for creating viral content such as ‘The Enchanted BBQ’ and ‘The World’s Most Boring Car’ as well as popular political satire accounts @GovGoogles (Twitter) and @TrumpGoogles (Instagram). He was also enlisted on a volunteer basis to write some of the Carlton Football Club’s banners, as well as the inaugural AFLW State of Origin, and recently crowdfunded the ‘Schooled!’ adult animated pilot with fellow Melbourne creatives, Ryan Clayton and Tim O’Shea.

Says Alex Fenton (above left), creative director and founder of Fenton Stephens: “We welcome Jess to the role of agency partner. His appointment is well deserved and I’m confident he’ll bring as much passion to shaping the future of Fenton Stephens as he has shown in the ruthless pursuit of ideas.”
