Energy Safe Victoria launches new ‘DIY = DIE’ electrical safety campaign via Redhanded

Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 1.38.27 pm.jpgRedhanded has launched a confronting, electrical safety campaign for Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) with a very simple message. No handyman should attempt to fix an electrical fault. It should always be left to a qualified tradie.

With just six letters, Redhanded has produced a powerful campaign theme, DIY = DIE.

ESV0134DIYPress-1.jpgThe campaign follows two deaths in Victoria earlier this year, both related to water and electricity.

A 21-year-old Yarroweyah man and a 75-year-old man in the Geelong area both died attempting to fix pumps.

Says Neil Fraser from ESV: “Water and electricity can be a fatal combination. Damaged or poorly maintained equipment can kill. A slight tingle or fuses blowing regularly are signs of a serious problem and they need to be investigated by a qualified tradesperson.”

The campaign was launched in Shepparton by the Victorian minister for energy and resources, Lily D’Ambrosio. ESV is targeting farmers with the message that doing your own electrical work is not only illegal, it can be fatal.

The campaign TVC will be aired in metro and ESV0134DIYPress.jpgregional areas, as well as cinema, outdoor and a full page in The Weekly Times.
