Jason Ross set to leave CumminsRoss; agency plans to change name to cummins&partners
CB Exclusive – After building his eponymous agency with friend and fellow partner Sean Cummins, Jason Ross has announced he is leaving CumminsRoss.
Says Ross: “This comes at a perfect time for me after this month’s announcement of AdNews Australian Agency of the Year.
“To leave on such a high is perfect timing for me, the business and the personnel I have brought in to continue the success of the agency.
“I achieved just about everything I wanted to with this business and it is the perfect time for me to pause and take stock,” added Ross.
“Jason is a very talented creative person. You just need to look at the lasting campaigns he has been involved with like the Jigsaw campaign for Tourism Victoria, 100% Pure New Zealand and of course the work we have created together at CumminsRoss including Jeep and Legendairy,” said CEO Sean Cummins.
“Jason is one of the nicest human beings and I look up to him as an example of good values, great work ethic and fantastic love for life” added Cummins.
With the departure of Ross, the agency will rename itself cummins&partners in the coming weeks said Cummins.
“Neither Jason nor I ever wanted the agency to be about the two of us, our names were just indicative of our idea to start a partnership. Now we want to reflect all the partners in the business. And this name suits that objective best.
“Yes, there was an early rendition of cummins&partners, but this model is a very different offering. We are unique as a media trader and planner combined with creativity, digital and production.”
The fast-growing CumminsRoss opened its doors on 1.1.11 and opened an Adelaide office one year later. On May 1 it will open a New York office based in Tribeca.

And it’s finally official. Go Cummins and Partners Mark II. I would wish you luck but I don’t think you will need it.
Wow, Sapient’s buyout didn’t include dibs into eternity on the name cummins&partners? Someone’s fucked up royally there … and typically, Sean’s rubbing their noses in it.
Good luck to you Jason – go well.
Ross is a hell of a nice guy. I wish him all the best with whatever he does next.
Saddened to see the coolest creative on the block leaving the partnership .. but looking forward to seeing what Jason does next!
I’m with astonished. He’s managed to pocket millions selling his agency to Sapient who threw away any goodwill, then a few short years later gets it back.
Nice one.
Sean, you’re a good operator.
Would love to know the real story.
Good luck, Jason.
’embargoed’ is quite the choice of page names, Lynchy….
I thought Ian Watson came up with 100% pure New Zealand
Hope all those special meeting cummins & partners branded biscuits, that have no doubt been stockpiled awaiting re-introduction, haven’t gone stale.
How easy people forget. Sean sold to Nitro. Nitro sold to Sapient. And Sapient is an company with revenue over 1 Billion and growing.
So those T-shirts and hoodies with Cummins are now back in fashion and relevant again – wahoo!
From the first time I met Jason years ago it was clear that he was always willing to donate his time and experience to the younger generation of creatives who are trying to find their feet in what can otherwise be a pretty tough environment. Fantastic to hear that he’s leaving on his terms. Great work Jason – best of luck for the future.
