Director Matt Weston lands at TRUCE

After enjoying a few years in the freelance wilderness, director Matt Weston has found a home at Truce Production Co.

 

Weston’s work balances sharp performance with visual sleight of hand: laugh-out-loud timing that sneaks up on you, and the occasional viral hit. In recent times he has been guiding global campaigns for Nintendo, while locally it is brands such as Volkswagen, Cadbury, Rexona, Bundaberg Rum, Sportsbet and Ladbrokes that have all trusted him to bring the right dose of chaos to the screen.

“Matt makes the kind of work we admire: funny, smart, and never phoned in. He’s also the rare director who can make a client laugh and relax, sometimes in the same breath,” says Michael Ciccone, Head of Production at Truce.

Away from commercials, Weston’s love of music, particularly the heavier, faster, louder kind, continues to shape his filmmaking. There’s energy on his sets, but the kind that keeps things moving without anyone actually blowing a fuse.

Weston says of the signing: “I’ve been a big fan of the work, and the humans at Truce, particularly their expansion into long-form. I’m pumped to be a part of their ambitious next phase, and proud to join the cult.”
