Director David Gaddie launches The Colony
Director David Gaddie and veteran producer Susan Walker announced today the formation of The Colony, a multidisciplinary directing collective incorporating production, creative services and visual effects. Gaddie is a well-known international director who has earned an array of awards at nearly every major advertising award including a Gold Lion at Cannes.
The Colony has been formed to create great advertising in a continually changing advertising landscape. The Colony directors come from a variety of backgrounds including agency creative, design, post-production and performance. “The Colony directors all share the same passion for creating non-conventional concepts and stories in non-conventional ways,” says Walker.
Unlike traditional production companies, the team collaborates on everyproject, sharing ideas and putting forward solutions. “It’s more likean advertising agency model. We are interested in pushing theboundaries of what production is and the collective has a uniqueperspective. We want people to see us as an extension of their agency,”says Gaddie.
The Colony team works collaboratively fromoffices in Sydney, New York and Shanghai. This means they are able toutilize the resources of each office and location for any shoot. TheColony has also partnered with B Reel – the Swedish interactivepowerhouse – for European and US representation. Says Gaddie: “Knowingwhere the business is heading, it made complete sense to alignourselves with the true innovators in interactive. I love it – we areworking on amazing interactive projects that The Colony would neverhave been exposed to prior to this relationship.”
The Colony’s first production, Coke’s Mother ‘Motherland’ spot for Smart, Sydney, is currently on air.

enuff for you to say it!
Sweet. A new shop.
Oh, get a life 4.23
You use the same old tired argument against everything that is released on this blog. You’re pathetic. Your career is already over. You just don’t know it yet. So move over granddad and let the new kids take control. You had your chance and you blew it by being a cock.

I am 28…is that toooo old.
Sorry.
Come on. One of you must be creative enough to make a joke about ants , colons and directors….
7:48 doesn’t even work in advertising.
So… if The Colony is more like an agency than a production company… who will their clients be? I can’t see any agencies helping out a company that is in competition with them. Please clarify.
Have also got to be wary of production companies doing their own post production.
They know more about advertising than you Ben. At least Gaddie has won some awards.
You ain’t won shit.
If anyone wants to talk about advertising or what I’m doing with The Colony please feel free to call me any time. I’m on SKYPE: davidgaddie
Ben,
I think the Glue Society have proved that agencies will still use you as a production company even if they’re in competition.
Worst hat ever.
