Clean Up Australia has released three TVCs ahead of its Clean Up Australia Day on March 6 urging people to sleep well at night knowing they have helped out.

Created by DDB Sydney, one commercial show a man sleeping soundly through the night as his wife deals with a gigantic spider crawling on his face and in another she vacuums his face clean.

Over its 21-year history volunteers have devoted more than 24 million hours to help the environment by removing over 237,500 tonnes of rubbish.

The new adverts are a departure from a focus on the detrimental effects of rubbish in the environment, says Ian Kiernan AO, Chairman of Clean Up Australia.

“In 2011 we are appealing to people to share the rewards and personal satisfaction of their efforts. We want viewers to feel that cleaning up their local community and doing their bit for the environment will help them to rest well at night. Our central aim is to encourage Australians to join us for Clean Up Australia Day on 6 March. However,  many volunteers put in a full day of hard work, so this year we’re experimenting with some humour, focusing on the reward achieved for giving back to the environment.”

The adverts will be seen nationally and supported with radio, print advertisements and for the first time Facebook advertising.
