DDB AUCKLAND STOCKS UP CREATIVE DEPARTMENT FOLLOWING DEPARTURES
Following the recent departures of Hywel James, Mandy Kennedy and Wendy Lawn, and the recent promotion of Bridget Short and Regan Grafton to deputy CDs, DDB Auckland has stocked up their creative department. Middleweight team Mick Stalker and Sarah Longworth (left) have been recruited from Family in Scotland, and junior art director Mike Felix has been taken on full-time.
Says DDB Auckland ECD, Paul Catmur: “Mick and Sarah have already demonstrated their passion for the business and their drive to do great work in Scotland. I really think they will thrive with the opportunities here, though they may find it a bit warm at first. Mike Felix has learnt, listened, and worked on some great projects, in particular for Durex, SKY and the Coastguard during his time here. He has really earned a full-time job. I wouldn’t be a proper CD if I didn’t say: ‘they are all great additions to the team and can’t wait to get cracking on some exciting briefs’.”

I saw the Scottish team’s work. All I can say is that it’s a pity that Catmur had to look to overseas to find such mid-weight talent. It may not be DDB’s year.

Jesus, I knew advertising could get bitchy, but really, this is *very* low, guys. As if it isn’t bad enough that you’ve got competition on the creative front, you go and make a mockery of yourselves by rolling out all the obvious gags & putdowns. Two of the coolest folk I’ve ever known. Mick and Sarah have an abundance of talent and enthusiasm for creativity which I guess is lacking in certain parts of NZ creative industry, if the best most posting on here can even come up with for a user name is ‘anonymous’ then they should do very well indeed. I used to work with Mick in Scotland for several years then like Mick I moved to an agency in another country. However, I have never felt the incestious animosity that the ‘natives’ can project when one who isn’t like their 6 fingered selves enters the local advertsing flock. Good job on trying to attract foreign talent to your shores fellas. By the sounds of things they (Mick and Sarah) could teach you guys a thing or to like how to gain respect and the most basic instinct of all, how to get in to an awards book. P.S.
