Day 2 at MAD STARS 2023 festival commences with more thought provoking sessions

MAD STARS 2023 has welcomed attendees to the second day of its festival today. The festival is built around the theme, Reboot!, celebrating the opportunity to refresh for the post-pandemic era. It aims to inspire the creativity that will change the world and contribute to mankind in a meaningful way.

The keynote speaker for MAD STARS day two is Artwell Nwaila, Head of Creative & Partner Ecosystem, Sub Saharan Africa Google. In his session, Leveraging Data to Amplify Creativity in Advertising, he notes that many organisations still view data and creativity as separate entities in the advertising process. He challenges this notion and describes how data can enhance the creative process by providing insights into audience preferences, behaviours and trends. He also explores how creative can bring data to life by weaving it into compelling stories that resonate with audiences.

The world’s newest conflict problem, the war in Ukraine, has devastated the advertising industry in the country and impacted major international advertising networks. The problems it has caused are explored in a session by Svitlana Stepanenko, Board Member, All-Ukraine Advertising Coalition, titled Ukrainian Advertising Industry in Times of War: Challenges and Opportunities.

Yoshima Nakano, Chief Director, Dentsu Inc., presents Moving Toward Entertainment in his session that highlights the power of entertainment to draw audiences, especially in today’s hugely diversified media landscape. The session also introduces Dentsu’s entertainment division, Content Business Design Center.

Tomorrow’s sessions include Simplify The Future by Fabio Seidl, Director, Global Creative Development, META; To Create Change, Change The Way You Create by Ali Rez, Chief Creative Officer, MENAP Region, Impact BBDO; and Rebooting Technology with Human Craft: From Korea to the World, by Joao Flores, Executive Creative Director APAC, Media.Monks.

MAD STARS 2023 judging has concluded and the Grand Prix, Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in the PSA and PIVOT Groups have been chosen. These were announced at the opening ceremony at BEXCO’S Grand Ballroom on Tuesday, August 23, and will be distributed after the closing ceremony. The winners for VIDEO, SOLUTION, STRATEGY and DIVERSE INSIGHTS will also be announced on Friday, August 25, as well as the Grands Prix of the Year.
