David Ryan to CD of Basis, Brisbane
Brisbane born creative David Ryan has been appointed creative director of Basis, six months after joining the agency in October last year.
Ryan said he’s “looking forward to meeting some new and exciting challenges working for a dynamic, innovative agency like Basis. This is a great opportunity for me to work with some of the best people in the business based right here in the amazing growth area of south-east Queensland.”
In the past, Ryan has created campaigns for some of Brisbane’s leadingadvertising agencies and made his mark on many brands, most notablyWarner Brothers, Wet’n’Wild, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, MackayTourism and RACQ. His work has been acknowledged at Cannes, Mobius,London Internationaland NY Advertising Festivals.
Before Basis, Ryan worked for Ideaworks for a year, and before that Adventure for 12 years.
He also contributes to AdSchool, where heis running courses on the Creative Process and Art Directionprinciples.
Basis Group started 12 years ago and focuses on providing clients withoutstanding customer service and creative excellence. Based inCommercial Road, Teneriffe, the group now employs 18 staff and workswith some of Australia’s best known brands including Audi, Dometic,Fone Zone, NightOwl and PoolWerx.

One wonders… a week full of promotions seeing humble creatives rise to egocentric creative directors leaves me pondering, ‘just how many creative directors does it take to screw in a client?’

Well done, David.
Having worked previously in creative teams with David Ryan, and even earlier with his predecessor Dave Coxeter, I can vouch for this. Both are rare gentlemen. Both are talented creatives. And both really ARE, in their own ways, all about the work. Go the quiet ones.
